Box Score MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – Senior Ibrahima Toure (Brooklyn, N.Y.) posted a team high 22 points to go along with six rebounds and a steal Saturday, leading the Morrisville State College men's basketball team to a 86-75 North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) victory over visiting Penn College in Morrisville.
The win is the 14th for the Mustangs on the season as they hold a 14-6 overall record, and improve their conference stint to 10-2. Penn College drops to 3-15 overall, 3-9 in NEAC action.
Toure was 8-for-11 from the floor, adding six additional points from the free throw line as he went 6-for-9.
Four additional teammates notched double figures as well, including fellow senior Joe Hulbert (Duanesburg, N.Y.) who posted 17.
Jordan Hoose (Hudson, N.Y.), Qwuhail Barlow (Cortland, N.Y.) and Trent Ward (Auburn, N.Y.) each added 14, with Hoose adding six assists and six rebounds to his tallies on the day.
Ward also dished out four assists.
Five posted double figures for the Wildcats, including Bryce Lonsway who had a team high 15 points. Marquis Delgado collected the double-double with 11 points, adding 12 assists while teammates Kevin Laurence-El, Landon Muller, and Laquinn Thompson each had 13.
Morrisville State went scoreless for the first three minutes of the contest, turning the ball over each of four times down the floor, before a layup by Toure ignited a 14-0 run for the Mustangs to claim the 14-7 lead just five minutes in.
The Mustangs dominated the paint in the opening half, outscoring the Wildcats 20-12, in part due to a 15 point performance by Toure. Morrisville State built up as many as a 16 point lead behind their 48.6% shooting in the opening half, claiming the 41-25 lead at the break.
In the second, Penn College pulled within seven, but couldn't get any closer as Morrisville State matched the visitors in scoring and collected the conference win.
Morrisville State finished shooting 43.9% from the floor, and converted 21-of-27 (77.8%) from the free throw line. Penn College finished 46% from the floor, hitting 11 from long range in the contest.
The Mustangs return to the floor Wednesday, traveling to SUNY Cobleskill for a 5 p.m. tip.
