Morrisville Falls to Buffalo State 5-1

Box Score

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Mustangs returned home to Morrisville on Saturday night, to host Buffalo State in the second game of their away and home SUNYAC series.  Morrisville looked for revenge following their 4-0 loss on Friday night, but fell short in a 5-1 losing effort.

With just over eight minutes gone by in the first period, the Bengals were on the board first with a goal by Ryan Hunter. Just five minutes later, Buffalo State added their second goal of the game with a shot of a rebound by Cory Gurski.

After a lone early goal in the fourth minute of play by Buffalo States' Jake Rosen, the Mustangs would kill two penalties, and a 17-5 shots on goal disadvantage, before finally getting the first goal by Joseph Santino (Woodbridge, Ontario), which came on a power play. Tyler Lepore (London, Ontario) and Jordan Carvalho (Brampton, Ontario) added assists on the play.

Morrisville played even with Buffalo State until a double 10-minute misconduct was called on both Morrisville's MJ Maerkl (Binghamton, NY) and Buffalo State's Ryan Stayner. Once the penalties were all cleared, the Bison added their fourth goal of the contest with a one-timer from Ryan Salkeld.

Immediately following a multiple player penalty return, with less than three minutes remaining, the Bison added their final goal of the night off a shot from Taylor Pryce.

Morrisville will return to action on their home ice on Friday, February 12 for first half of a home and away series with Cortland State. Game time is set for 7pm at Morrisville's IcePlex.
