Morrisville State men notch 89-72 victory over Bryn Athyn

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Morrisville State College men's basketball team picked up a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) win Saturday afternoon,  as they topped visiting Bryn Athyn College 89-72 in Morrisville.

With the victory, Morrisville State improves to 8-13 overall, 5-9 in conference play, while the Lions fall to 5-17, 5-10 within the NEAC.

Six different Mustangs posted double digits in the high scoring affair, including junior Jared Donalson (Syracuse, N.Y.) who paved the way with a double-double behind his 18 point, 10 rebound performance. Five of Donalson's rebounds came on the offensive glass as Morrisville State dominated the boards 47-24.

Qwuhail Barlow (Cortland, N.Y.) added 16 points and three assists, while teammate Ibrahima Toure (Brooklyn, N.Y.) added 13 points and four assists.

Trent Ward (Auburn, N.Y.) registered 12 points and dished out a season best nine assists, while teammates Joe Hulbert (Duanesburg, N.Y.) and Tyler Bliss (Liverpool, N.Y.) each added 12.

Joseph Keho led Bryn Athyn with 17 points15 of which came in the second half, while teammate Troy Steed registered 15.

Austin Nyekan posted 12 with teammates Deion Boyer and Devante Laws adding 11 and 10, respectively in the Lion efforts.

Morrisville State led 43-30 at the half before Bryn Athyn was able to climb within seven midway through the second period. A 10-3 run by the Mustangs regained the double digit lead with just under four minutes remaining in the second, before putting the game away with an 11-2 run over the final three minutes of the contest for the victory.

The Mustangs hit 50.7% from the floor on 36-of-71 shots, while holding the Lions to 43.1% on 25-of-58 attempts on the day.

Morrisville State returns to the court tomorrow, hosting Penn St. Abington at 2 p.m. in the home finale.
