Morrisville, N.Y. – The SUNY Morrisville men's lacrosse team enters the 2026 season focused on growth, continuity, and taking another step forward within the SUNYAC. After a challenging 2025 season, the Mustangs return a core group of leaders poised to elevate the program's competitiveness.
Morrisville finished the 2025 season with a 2-10 overall record and went 1-6 in conference play as the Mustangs battled through tough matchups across the schedule. While results didn't always go the Mustangs way, the team showed flashes of offensive production and gritty defensive play that promise to be building blocks for 2026.
The Mustangs return key contributors from their 2025 campaign to help lead the team this upcoming season. Senior
Dean Mohammed (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) and Junior
Kyan Dohn (East Brunswick, N.J.) return as the top two leaders in scoring for the Mustangs. Dohn also led the team in points and was second in assists as well.
Senior
Jason Tedeschi (Manlius, N.Y.) also returns, to help lead the attack after finishing with the most assists on the team in 2025 with 17.
Fourth year coach Chris Cooper strengthened Morrisville's depth, bringing in more than 20 freshmen and transfers this past offseason, who will be expected to step in and make an impact right away.
Morrisville's first test of the season will come against Russell Sage College on February 24
th in a mid-afternoon battle at Russell Sage.
The Mustangs will then return home on the 28
th where they will look to avenge a loss from the 2025 season against Alfred University. They continue their schedule at home as they face Elmira College on Wednesday, March 4
th at 4 PM.
The Mustangs hit the road again on the 6
th when they face Delhi on the road before returning home to take on the Wolves of Keuka College on the 11
th.
On the 14
th Morrisville will travel out of state to face Penn College in an early afternoon matchup and then continue their road trip traveling to SUNY Poly the following Wednesday.
Alfred State rolls into town on the 21
st before Morrisville heads to Utica University to take on the Pioneers in their last out of conference matchup on the 25
th.
The Mustangs eye their first winning season since 2023, and their first SUNYAC postseason appearance since joining the conference in 2024-25.
Last year's squad showed an impressive defensive effort, forcing their opponents to turn the ball over an average of 21.2 times per game. The Mustangs also finished last season ranked 16
th in the nation in saves per game.
Morrisville opens SUNYAC play hosting Oswego State on Saturday, March 28
th, kicking off seven straight conference matchups through the end of April.
SUNY Morrisville's curricula are enriched with applied learning and pave the way for opportunity at the Morrisville and Norwich campuses. The college is positioning itself to offer expanded graduate offerings, workforce programming and microcredentials.
