Morrisville men cruise to season opening win over Sage

COLONIE, N.Y. – Visiting SUNY Morrisville men's lacrosse cruised to a season opening win over host Russell Sage College Tuesday afternoon in non-conference action, downing the Gators by a 17-5 final at the Afrim's Sports Park in Colonie.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Visiting SUNY Morrisville men's lacrosse opened the 2026 season slate Tuesday afternoon on the road at Russell Sage College, claiming the 17-5 non-conference win behind a dominate opening half.
  • Morrisville trailed 1-0 early on to the Gators before rattling off six scores over the final 5:40 of the first quarter to claim the 5-1 advantage heading into the second.
  • Chris Stancarone (Levittown, N.Y.) put the first score on the board for the Mustangs in the 2026 season with 5:40 to go before Kyan Dohn (East Brunswick, N.J.) posted three straight in just over a minutes time to open the gap 4-1.
  • Dean Mohammed (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) collected his first with under a minute remaining in the frame, before freshman Noah Taylor (East Syracuse, N.Y.) put his first collegiate score in the back of the net with five seconds on the clock.
  • Mohammed and Taylor each notched two scores apiece in the second, alongside one from Jason Tedeschi (Manlius, N.Y.) for the commanding 11-2 advantage at the break.
  • Morrisville outscored the hosts 3-2 in the third and sent the game into the final quarter with the 14-4 lead, collecting the non-conference win with three more goals in the fourth to seal the victory.
  • Dohn led all scorers with an eight point outing, netting five goals and assisting three others, while Taylor put away five in his collegiate debut, assisting one.
  • Mohammed also scored five for the Mustangs, with Tedeschi collecting three points behind one score and two assists.
  • Stancarone scored once and collected an assist.
  • Nathan Weise (Rochester, N.Y.) earned the starting nod in net, recording three saves in the first half of action, before Blake Dunton (Middlesex, N.Y.) finished out the second half, turning away four.
  • Daniel Squires (Aquebogue, N.Y.) led the Mustang defense with seven ground balls, causing five turnovers.
  • Jordan Hankel had 18 stops in the efforts in net for the Gators, while teammate Mame Diba collected three points behind two goals and an assist.
