Borges named Mustang of the Week

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The SUNY Morrisville athletics department has announced its weekly award winner, naming junior men's basketball forward Tony Borges (Auburn, N.Y.) the Mustang of the Week for action ending Jan. 18.
 
Borges played a key role in a 2-1 week for the Mustangs in conference play, guiding the team to wins over Fredonia and Potsdam in SUNYAC action.
 
He began the week with a 16-point, six rebound outing, where he hit 3-of-5 from long range and 5-of-6 from the free throw line. Borges also collected an assist and block in the 93-86 win over Fredonia.
 
Borges followed with three points and eight rebounds in a hard-fought loss to Plattsburgh, before pouring in 18 points in the victory over Potsdam. In that same contest, the junior went 6-for-8 from the floor, drained a perfect 3-of-3 from behind the arc, and 3-of-3 from the free throw line.

Across the week, Borges averaged 12.3 points, 5.7 rebounds and 1.0 blocks per game, while shooting 52.6% from the floor – a stint that also included a 6-of-11 three-point shooting effort. Additionally, he converted 11-of-13 from the free throw line, an 84.6% performance.
