CORTLAND, N.Y. – The SUNY Morrisville men's track and field team took to the track Friday afternoon on day one of the SUNYAC Outdoor Championships, posting record breaking performances with freshman
Michael Ventricelli (Massapequa, N.Y.) advanced to the finals.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
- The SUNY Morrisville men's track and field team took part in the competition on day one of the SUNYAC Outdoor Championships hosted at SUNY Cortland, as two freshmen posted top times for the Mustangs.
- Siyel Bowman (Bronx, N.Y.) competed for Morrisville in the 400-meter race, finishing 11th overall in the prelims, but not without posting a record-breaking time for the Mustangs behind his 49.88 second finish.
- Bowman's time bested the mark set a year ago, by 0.24 seconds, and the freshman just missed out on a spot in the finals by .2 seconds.
- Freshman Michael Ventricelli (Massapequa, N.Y.) gained four positions on his final lap of the 800-meter race to cross with a time of 1:57.98, earning a slot in the championship finals on his time by three-hundredths of a second.
- Ventricelli will compete for a title tomorrow around 1:15 p.m. after finishing eighth among the competition field of 20.
- Nasir King (Elmira, N.Y.) also competed for the Mustangs in the 800, posting a personal best time of 2:04.34 to finish 18th overall in the prelims.
- Kieran Carter (Oswego, N.Y.) represented Morrisville in the 400-hurdles, crossing in 1:01.08 to earn a 13th overall position in the prelims.
WHAT'S NEXT:
- Competition will resume for the Mustangs tomorrow, Saturday, May 3, at 11:30 a.m. as the 4x100 relay team takes the track to compete for a championship title.
