CORTLAND, N.Y. – The SUNY Morrisville women's track and field team competed Friday afternoon at the Red Dragon Open Invitational held at SUNY Cortland, with freshman
Laura Powers (Chittenango, N.Y.) setting a new record mark in the 1500-meter run.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
- The SUNY Morrisville women's track and field team competed Friday afternoon at the Red Dragon Open Invitational hosted by SUNY Cortland.
- Freshman Laura Powers (Chittenango, N.Y.) posted a 1500-meter time of 5:09.86 to set a new record mark in the Mustang record books, besting the prior record established in 2004 by over two seconds.
- Milla Gonzalez (Oxford, N.Y.) also competed for the Mustangs, recording a best time of the season in the 100-meter race, finishing 16th overall with a time of 13.49 seconds.
- Gonzalez was joined by Aaliyah Standbrook (Clyde, N.Y.) who recorded a time of 13.97, also a personal best this season, finishing 23rd overall.
- Gonzalez also competed in the 200-meter race, finishing 29th overall with a time of 28.92 seconds.
- Jaidon Brodie (Mt. Vision, N.Y.) also competed in the 200-meter race, registering a time of 31.00 seconds while finishing 39th overall.
- Powers registered a time of 2:35.33 in the 800-meter race, finishing 12th overall, recording an 18th overall finish in the 1500 with her record-breaking time.
- Brodie also competed for the Mustangs in jumps, finishing 21st overall in the long jump with a distance of 4.25 meters, and ninth overall in the triple with a distance of 9.45 meters.

- Morrisville will next compete at Utica University on Saturday, April 12.
