MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – Freshman Laura Powers (Chittenango, N.Y.) was the lone competitor for the SUNY Morrisville women's track and field team on day one of the SUNYAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships, hosted by SUNY Cortland, registering a new record mark for the Mustangs in her individual event.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

• Freshman Laura Powers (Chittenango, N.Y.) was the lone competitor for the SUNY Morrisville women's track and field team Friday afternoon at the SUNYAC Outdoor Championships, recording a Mustang record breaking time in the women's 800-meter race.
• Powers finished 12^th overall among the field of 16 runners in the preliminaries, crossing the finish line in 2:32.35, besting the prior record set a year ago by 0.19 seconds.
• The freshman will return to the track tomorrow, alongside teammate Jaidon Brodie (Mt. Vision, N.Y.), to compete for a title in the women's 1500-meter race.
• Brodie will compete in the women's triple jump, with competition beginning at 10:30 a.m.

 
WHAT'S NEXT:

• The second day of the SUNYAC Championships will begin Saturday, May 3 at 10 a.m.
