MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – SUNY Morrisville head football coach,
Ed Raby, Jr., announced the addition of Thomas Martin and Chancie Tidwell to the Mustang staff for the upcoming season.
Martin will oversee the nickels, while Tidwell takes the reins of the running backs.
Martin comes to Morrisville from the University of Florida where he served as a football sports science intern while obtaining his master's degree in applied physiology and kinesiology in December 2022.
While in Florida, he worked exclusively with the football student-athletes and staff to increase player development and performance through a variety of testing systems, including Force Decks Dual Force Plate System and Kinduct Athlete Management System.
Prior to his time with the Gators, Martin spent five seasons with Framingham High School as an assistant football coach.
Martin obtained his certified strength and conditioning specialist certification in 2018 and is a DARI Motion Certified Operator.
Martin also holds a bachelor of arts degree in political science from the University of South Carolina.
Tidwell comes to Morrisville from Delta State University where he competed for two seasons as a tight end.
He began his playing career with Jones County Community College, where he assisted the Bobcats with completing an undefeated 6-0 record in the Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference in 2017, reaching the state semifinals, his sophomore season.
The All-MACJC First team honoree transferred to Delta State where he earned his degree in 2020, before pursing a graduate degree in education. During his senior season with the Statesmen, the team were Gulf South Conference Champions.
Alongside the additions of Martin and Tidwell, Raby also announced the staff reassignments for the upcoming season.
Matt Rogers has been promoted to the role of assistant head coach and will remain the Mustangs offensive coordinator and recruiting coordinator, while overseeing quarterback operations.
Tyler Elmore has been promoted to the role of offensive line coach and will assume duties as director of football operations.
Heath Hoovler was promoted to special teams coordinator and will also oversee the wide receiver unit.
Walter Burks will remain as the defensive backs coach,
John Pluta the defensive line coach and
Raffaele Spagnola the coach of tight ends.
Raby will continue to serve as the defensive coordinator with oversight of inside linebackers in addition to his head coaching role.
