ALFRED, N.Y. – The SUNY Morrisville football closed out the 2025 season campaign Saturday on the road at Alfred University with a 34-21 final decision at Yunevich Stadium in Alfred.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

• Visiting SUNY Morrisville football closed out the 2025 season Saturday on the road at Alfred, falling to the host Saxons by a 34-21 Empire 8 final.
• Alfred took a 13-0 lead over the Mustangs after a first quarter touchdown score and second tally just under two minutes into the second, before Morrisville put their first score of the game on the board with 1:26 to go before the halftime period.
• Morrisville gained possession off the forced fumble on the Alfred 38, as Thomas Eison (St. Albans, N.Y.) knocked the ball loose and into the hands of Kadofi Abbott (Lexington, N.Y.) with under two to go in the half.
• After back-to-back carries by Isaac Sylvain (Schenectady, N.Y.) to move the ball to the 22, Logan Watson (Lowville, N.Y.) hit Xavier Gaines (Pomona, N.Y.) on a scoring pass play, cutting the deficit to six.
• Alfred, though, would regain the two-possession lead with seconds to spare before the half, sending the game into the break with a 20-7 host advantage.
• Morrisville once again cut the lead to a one-possession game at the 10:33 mark of the third with a nine-yard rushing score by Watson to complete the nine-play, 75-yard drive and make it a 20-14 ball game.
• As with the second, Alfred would rebound with a score on the ensuing drive and extended the lead to 34-14 at the 10:04 mark of the fourth with their final score of the afternoon.
• Morrisville posted one last touchdown on the season with 3:27 to go, as Watson hit Zach Slesinski (Red Hook, N.Y.) on the short one-yard strike in the endzone.
• Jesus Cediel (Bronx, N.Y.) completed the point after in his first appearance of the season.
• Watson completed 12-of-23 passes for 96 yards and two touchdowns, while adding another 30 yards in the running game for a touchdown score.
• Sylvain led the Mustang ball carriers with 206 net yards rushing on 31 attempts, with teammate Mason Onedreyko (Wallkill, N.Y.) reining in three catches for 37 yards.
• Gaines finished with 31 yards on four receptions.
• Eric Sparkman (Syracuse, N.Y.) led the defensive efforts with 12 stops across the day, with Abbott adding another eight to go along with the fumble recovery.
