Sylvain posts career high against Hartwick

ONEONTA, N.Y. – Junior Isaac Sylvain (Schenectady, N.Y.) scrambled for a career high 207 yards rushing Saturday afternoon as the visiting SUNY Morrisville Mustangs took on Hartwick College in Empire 8 action in Oneonta.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Visiting SUNY Morrisville football hit the road for Saturday's Empire 8 action at Hartwick College in Oneonta, falling 24-13 to the Hawks.
  • Junior Isaac Sylvain (Schenectady, N.Y.) posted a collegiate high in rushing on the day, scoring twice as he registered a net 207 yards for the Mustangs in the running game.
  • Sylvain put the Mustangs ahead 7-0 just under two minutes into the opening quarter, scrambling for 45 yards to complete the four-play, 66-yard drive.
  • Hartwick would respond to the Mustangs score nearly a quarter later, completing their own 66-yard drive to even the contest at seven, before hitting a 16-yard field goal to claim the three-point lead at the half.
  • The hosts expanded their lead to 10 midway through the third with a 62-yard, 11 play drive to lead 17-7.
  • Sylvain junior added a second rushing touchdown early in the fourth, a four-yard scoring carry that cut the deficit to four, but Hartwick added a final touchdown with 1:50 remaining to claim the win.
  • Logan Watson (Lowville, N.Y.) completed 14-of-29 passes for the Mustangs for 89 yards, hitting Sylvain four times for 30 yards alongside Mason Ondreyko (Wallkill, N.Y.) four times as well for 26 yards.
  • A trio of Mustangs led the defensive efforts across the cold and wet afternoon, including Eric Sparkman (Syracuse, N.Y.) who collected a team high 13.
  • Camerin Camacho (Cape Coral, Fla.) had a 12 tackle effort, registering two for a loss of three yards, while Dillon English (Webster, N.Y.) added 10, also recovering a fumble.

  • Morrisville will host St. John Fisher University next Saturday in their home finale, celebrating the senior class prior to kick-off.
