MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – Hansen Ratings released it's sixth annual 2022 Division III Football Analytical All-American and All-Region Teams late December, naming Ernesto Mitchell (Wheatley Heights, N.Y.) and Owen Cole (Maspeth, N.Y.) to its Region 2 Team.
 
Head coach Ed Raby, Jr. highlights the First Team with Defensive Coordinator of the Year accolades, guiding the Mustangs to an 11^th overall ranking in the NCAA in scoring defense, allowing a stout 11.1 points per game. Additionally, his Mustang squad made an appearance in the post-season for a fourth time, finishing the season with an overall 7-4 record.
 
Raby is joined by Mitchell and Cole, who garnered third team accolades.
 
Mitchell, who has earned several post-season accolades, adds yet another to his list of honors, after collecting 105 total stops across the season to earn Empire 8 Defensive Player of the Year, D3Football.com All-Region and All-American recognition.
 
Cole joins Mitchell on the third team as a specialist at the place kicker position. Cole, who was a second team Empire 8 honoree, completed 12-of-14 field goals across the regular season, registering a long of 46 yards to set a new single game record for the Mustangs.
 
The sophomore also completed 22 PAT's to average 5.3 points per game.
 
"I'm very proud of both Owen and Ernesto," Raby said.
 
"For Ernesto this is just a continuation of him being rewarded for his amazing season; I'm not surprised he is receiving recognition all over the country.
 
"Owen is a great weapon for us; his ability to have touchbacks and make field goals helped us win several games. He had a great season and is very deserving of this." 
 
The Hansen Ratings All American and All Region teams are determined by mathematical formula. Players are awarded for efficiency, volume, impactful plays, and quality competition. All Division III football players are eligible for selection. The main metrics in the calculation are Total Adjusted Yards per Play (TAYP) and Yards Above Replacement Player per Game (YARP/G).
Coaches of the year are selected based on the overall success of their team, by how much they improved this season, and by how far they exceeded preseason expectations.
