MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – Host Morrisville State College men's lacrosse used a five goal burst in the third quarter to hand visiting Cazenovia College the 10-4 North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) victory Wednesday night in Morrisville.

The Mustangs pull their overall record even to 5-5 with the victory, and remain untouched in conference play at 4-0. Cazenovia drops to 6-4, 3-2 in NEAC action.

Louie Geswaldo (Lafayette, N.Y.) posted four goals to pace Morrisville State in the win, three of which came in the first half as the hosts held the Wildcats scoreless while claiming the 4-0 lead at the half.

Andrew Donoghue (Rochester, N.Y.) had a huge game for the Mustangs on attack, posting the hat trick behind his three scores while assisting another three for six total team points. John Sherlock (Tully, N.Y.) added two scores and Brendan Shannon (Stanhope, N.J.) one to round out the goal scorers on the night.

Junior goalkeeper Chris Fiore (Staten Island, N.Y.) also had a monster game for Morrisville State, posting 14 total saves, including 12 that came in the opening half to keep Cazenovia off the scoreboard.

Defensively, Chad Izyk (North Syracuse, N.Y.) proved to be a spoiler for the Wildcats as he posted a team high four caused turnovers for Morrisville State while picking up five ground balls. The Mustangs outgained Cazenovia in the ground ball game, 33-26.

Cazenovia had four different players post tallies on the night, including Eric Hanover, Brandon Maxson, Kyle Kingsley and Ben Wilson.

Alex Delavan made nine stops in the losing effort between the pipes.

Morrisville State led 4-0 at the break before Cazenovia was able to get on the board with two scores early on in the third quarter to make it a 6-2 game.

The Mustangs responded with three consecutive tallies, all of which came within a span of two and a half minutes to break open the contest to a seven goal advantage after three quarters.

Cazenovia posted back to back tallies early on the in the fourth, but a score by Donoghue midway through the quarter and the play by the Mustangs defensive unit sealed the fate for the Wildcats as the hosts earned the 10-4 victory.

Morrisville State returns to the field Saturday, hosting conference rival Keuka College at 1 p.m. on Drake Field for the Wounded Warrior Project benefit game.
