Trio named Mustangs of the Week

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The SUNY Morrisville athletics department has announced its weekly award winners, naming three from their winter teams as this week's Mustangs of the Week.
 
Jalyn Moorehead (Rochester, N.Y.) assisted the men's basketball team to a 2-1 week in conference play, averaging 22.3 points per game off the bench for the Mustangs across three games. Moorehead began the week with an 18-point outing in the win over Fredonia, shooting 54.5 percent from the floor while also collecting a rebound, assist and steal. He followed with a 27-point effort in the five-point loss to New Paltz, shooting 50% from the floor, including 41.7 from beyond the arc that saw the senior hit 5-of-12 shots. Moorehead also added seven rebounds, five on the offensive glass, in the contest while collecting six steals.
 
He wrapped up the week with a 22-point game to lead the Mustangs to the overtime win over Oneonta Saturday, assisting three and posting three additional steals. Across the week, Moorehead averaged 26 minutes per game, shot 52.1% from the floor, 90% from the free throw line and 36.4% from long range. Moorehead also averaged 3.0 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 3.3 steals per game.
 
Anyssia Ingersoll (Mexico, N.Y.) had a career high performance in the efforts on the court at Oneonta for women's basketball. In the contest the junior shot 52% from the floor while accumulating a career best 35 points. Ingersoll added nine rebounds and two assists in 37 minutes on the court in the same contest.
 
Ingersoll leads the Mustangs in scoring, averaging 18.1 points per game, and is ranked second overall in the SUNYAC in total points while leading the league in points per game.
 
Senior Elizabeth Lucason (Camden, N.Y.) competed at the Nazareth Conference Challenge Cup indoor track meet in Rochester Saturday, placing sixth overall in the mile run.
 
Lucason crossed the finish line with a time of 5:20.52, earning the sixth-place finish among a field of 44 that featured runners from Division I, II and III at the meet.
