Men take on competition field at Marc Deneault Invite

ITHACA, N.Y. – The SUNY Morrisville men's indoor track and field team took on competition across all divisional levels Saturday at the Marc Deneault Invitational, hosted by Cornell University in Ithaca.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

The SUNY Morrisville men's indoor track and field team took on competition across all divisional levels Saturday, as they traveled to Cornell University for the Marc Deneault Invitational.
Morrisville kicked off the day's action with the men's 60-meter dash, with Kaleel Tobias (Rosedale, N.Y.) recording the top finish and time for the Mustang field, crossing the finish line with a time of 7.62 seconds for a 43^rd individual finish.
Thomas Eison (St. Albans, N.Y.) and Isaac Sylvain (Schenectady, N.Y.) finished hundredths of seconds behind Tobias, crossing the finish line in 7.63 and 7.66 seconds, respectively, for 45^th and 46^th overall individual place finishes.
Siyel Bowman (Bronx, N.Y.) established a new Mustang record mark in the men's 200-meter dash, finishing 15^th overall with a time of 23.08, seeing teammate Areion Joseph (Lagrangeville, N.Y.) post a time of 24.97 to finish 42^nd overall.
Sylvain and Eison also competed in the race, finishing with times of 25.81 and 25.98, respectively.
Nate Dziedzic (Chittenango, N.Y.) wrote his name into the Mustang record books with his time of 39.43 seconds in the 300-meter dash, crossing in 11^th overall.
Tobias put together a personal best 39.82 seconds to finish 13^th, while Tyler Burke (Bellport, N.Y.) was just behind with a time of 40.30 seconds.
Cameron Evans (Vernon, N.Y.) wrapped up Mustang competitors in the race with a time of 42.09 seconds.
Bowman put together a record mark of 50.85 seconds in the 400-meter dash, besting his record setting time established earlier this season as he finished third overall in the field of 33.
Joseph recorded a time of 56.29 seconds in the race.
Nasir King (Elmira, N.Y.) bested his personal best performance in the 800-meter run this season by just over two seconds to establish a new record mark, crossing in 2:02.70 to finish 15^th overall in the field.
Michale Ventricelli (Massapequa, N.Y.) was 19^th with a time of 2:03.63 and Hunter Matteson (Morrisville, N.Y.) 34^th with a time of 2:21.55.
Morrisville had four compete in the 1000 meter run, with Elijah Evelyn (East Syracuse, N.Y.) writing his name into the Mustang record books with a time of 2:53.31, besting the prior record by more than 19 seconds.
Zephrym Grover (Amherst, N.Y.) and Ethan Cossett (Oneida, N.Y.) also competed in the race, recording times of 2:59.71 and 3:02.36, while teammate Fernando Burgos (Washingtonville, N.Y.) rounded out the competition with a time of 3:08.28.
Ventricelli was the top finisher for the Mustangs in the men's mile run, claiming a 12^th place finish with his time of 4:37.55, while teammate Dziedzic finished 21^st overall with a time of 4:52.57.
Evelyn recorded a time of 4:52.85 to finish 22^nd, while teammate Donnell Davis (Binghamton, N.Y.) was 23^rd with a time of 4:54.87.
Cossett was 26^th for the Mustangs with a time of 5:05.05.

WHAT'S NEXT:

Morrisville will compete Friday and Saturday at the SUNYAC Indoor Championships, hosted at SUNY Brockport. Competition begins at 3 p.m. Friday in Brockport.
