MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The SUNY Morrisville athletics department has announced its weekly award winners, naming volleyball sophomore
Keely Shearer (Haslet, Texas) and men's soccer sophomore
Aaron Chapman (Aberdeenshire, Scotland) the Mustangs of the Week for action ending October 4.
Shearer paced the Mustangs to a 2-0 week at setter, collecting a total five kills, 75 assists, four aces, 17 digs and one block across two matches over the weekend.
In the match win over Sarah Lawrence, Shearer posted 34 assists, while also registering three kills and four aces, adding 11 digs to the defensive game as Morrisville posted the 3-1 victory. She followed with a season three-set high 41 assists in the 3-0 match win over Hunter College, adding two kills and six digs to her totals on the week.
The sophomore averaged 32.5 assists and 8.5 digs per match across the week.
Chapman had a seven-point week for the Mustangs in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC).
The sophomore had two goals and an assist in the tie against Alfred State mid-week, contributing a point on each scoring play as he collected the assist on the game-tying score with 15 seconds remaining on the clock.
He followed with the lone score against Buffalo State on Saturday, recording two points.
