MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The SUNY Morrisville athletics department recently honored its induction class of the Alpha Lambda Chapter of Chi Alpha Sigma, the National College Athlete Honor Society, celebrating 21 student-athletes as the Class of 2024 members.
"We are beyond pleased with the academic commitment of this group of student-athletes," said SUNY Morrisville Director of Athletics, Matt Grawrock.
"The dedication they show is readily visible for all to see. Induction to Chi Alpha Sigma is simply a tangible confirmation of what we've witnessed to date throughout their collegiate careers. They represent the Mustang spirit in their work ethic on and off the fields of competition and are great ambassadors for our athletics program."
Chi Alpha Sigma is the first and only nonprofit organization created to recognize college student-athletes who excel both on and off the field of competition. The honor society recognizes student-athletes who receive a varsity letter in their sport, achieve junior academic standing or higher after their fifth full-time semester, and earn a 3.4 or higher cumulative grade point average.
The Alpha Lambda Chapter was established at SUNY Morrisville in 2019. Selection for membership is by an athletic department designee and is based on outstanding scholarship, earned athletic letter winner, and excellent character and citizenship.
"Our student-athletes work hard on and off the fields of competition, evidenced by the continuous number we welcome year after year, including those that have earned recognition in this year's induction class," said SUNY Morrisville Chapter Advisor Al Muss.
"It is great to celebrate their academic achievements with college officials and athletics department staff and look forward to continuing our efforts to support the student-athlete educational experience."
