MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The SUNY Morrisville men's lacrosse team compiled a 4-1 overall United East record across the 2023 league slate, finishing second overall in the conference standings to earn the second overall seed in the upcoming championship tournament.
Morrisville will face-off against third seed Penn College, who compiled a 3-2 United East record, on Wednesday, May 3 at 6 p.m. in Morrisville.
St. Mary's College of Maryland claimed the top overall seed with a 5-0 conference record, and will meet fourth seeded Hilbert College, who wrapped up league play Saturday with a 2-3 stint. The contest is scheduled for a 1 p.m. start in Maryland on Wednesday.
Morrisville defeated Penn College in the first United East game of the season on April 1, by an 18-13 final score. The Mustangs led 12-6 at the break before the Wildcats clawed their way back into the contest in the fourth, ultimately falling short on time.
Dante Patriarco (Cortland, N.Y.) led Morrisville with seven goals, while
Zach Nestor (Manlius, N.Y.) collected a hat trick with three tallies, also connecting on six more for six assists in the league battle.
Dylan Laplace (Chester, Conn.) posted 12 stops and five ground balls for the win in net.

Morrisville's lone loss of the United East schedule came at the hands of St. Mary's College on April 15. Since, the Mustangs have outscored opponents a combined 51-2.
The winners of each semi-final will meet Saturday at the highest remaining seed. Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m. on May 6.
