Fourth Quarter Surge Pushes Plattsburgh Past Morrisville

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – The Morrisville men's lacrosse team, traveled to Plattsburgh Saturday afternoon, and after a tightly contested first half, would ultimately fall to the Cardinals, 7-4.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Morrisville struck first as Noah Taylor (East Syracuse, N.Y.) scored early off a caused turnover.
  • Plattsburgh tied it midway through the first and tallied later in the frame to take a 2-1 lead after one.
  • The Mustangs tied the game early at 2-2 from a goal by John Carter (Kirkville, N.Y.).
  • Dean Mohammed (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) put Morrisville back in front late in the quarter as Plattsburgh struggled to convert on multiple offensive chances, giving the visiting Mustangs a 3-2 lead at halftime.
  • Plattsburgh regained momentum with an early score in the third, followed by another tally later in the quarter to give the Cardinals a 4-3 lead heading into the final frame.
  • Plattsburgh pulled away with three straight goals, including a man-up finish to build a 7-3 lead.
  • Morrisville responded with a Kyan Dohn (East Brunswick, N.J.) goal, but couldn't close the gap as Plattsburgh controlled possession to secure the 7-4 victory.
  • Morrisville finished with four different scorers, including Taylor who finished with the team's lone assist.
  • Jack Pendergrass (Syosset, N.Y.) led the Mustangs on defense as he recorded five ground balls.
  • Blake Dunton (Middlesex, N.Y.) earned 16 saves in the loss across 60 minutes of action.
  • For Plattsburgh, Tim Keenan led the way as he finished with two goals.
  • Five other Cardinals saw the back of the net, while goalkeeper Cole Orehosky saved nine shots in the win.
