MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The SUNY Morrisville athletics department has announced its weekly award winners, naming
Chyler Barnes (Walton, N.Y.) and
Melanie Rott (Niagara Falls, N.Y.) the Mustangs of the Week for action ending Oct. 22.
Barnes, forward for the field hockey team, posted two goals in a 5-0 NAC win over visiting Wells College midweek, leading the Mustangs to a 2-2 league record.
Both of her tallies were on sweeps in front of cage, with her first being her first collegiate score of her career.
Rott was a defensive mainstay for the Mustangs women's soccer team across the week, collecting a 1-1 NAC record behind her play in net.
She began the week's action with eight saves in a 2-1 loss to SUNY Poly, before completing the week with a shutout victory over Eastern Nazarene to secure a post-season bid for the Mustangs. In the contest Sunday, Rott collected 10 stops for the 4-0 win.
Across the week the junior registered 18 total saves in 20 shots faced, registering a .90 save effort in net.
