MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – Morrisville State College men's lacrosse team scored six goals in the second quarter and never looked back to secure their first conference win of the season over visiting Bryn Athyn College on Saturday afternoon.
Morrisville State's Logan Peters (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) set the pace for the day with four goals to go along with five assists, finishing with nine points. Teammate John Sherlock (Tully, N.Y.) added three goals and five assists. Louie Geswaldo (Lafayette, N.Y.) contributed four goals, while Nick Geswaldo (Lafayette, N.Y.) finished with four goals and an assist as well.
Christopher Fiore (Staten Island, N.Y.) recorded the win in the net for the Mustangs, making four saves to secure the victory.
Both teams battled in the first quarter, drawing even until Kyle Shannon (Stanhope, N.J.) put one in the back of the net off an assist from Nick Geswaldo to push the score to 4-3 in favor of the Mustangs.
Morrisville State blew the game wide open in the second period scoring six times to only one score for the Lions. Nick Geswaldo scored two in the period, while Sherlock added three assists.
Bryn Athyn scored three in the third period to match the three Morrisville goals to keep them in striking distance.
Peters added two goals and three assists in the fourth quarter, while Sherlock added a goal and an assist for the Mustangs as they collected a 5-0 final frame for the win.
The Mustangs dominated the Lions in both shots, a margin of 54-14, and in face-offs on the day, winning 26 out of the 30 taken in the game. Scott Augustine (Saranac Lake, N.Y.) and John Petriello (Carmel, N.Y.) each collected 13 face-off wins.
Morrisville will return to their home turf on Wednesday, April 6th, as they take on conference opponent SUNY Cobleskill. Face-off is set for 4 p.m. on Drake Field.
