Morrisville State women hold on for 58-51 win over Bryn Athyn

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Morrisville State College women's basketball team edged host Bryn Athyn College 58-51 Saturday afternoon, boosting the Mustangs North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) record to 12-4 to date on the season.

Morrisville State (16-7) junior Jordan Anderson (West Edmeston, N.Y.) led all scorers with 25 points in as many games for the visitors, adding seven rebounds, three assists and four steals to the victory. Senior Caitlynn Adams (Sherburne, N.Y.) controlled the glass for the Mustangs, snagging 13, including six on the offensive boards.

Bryn Athyn had two post double figures, led by Kristina Clark with 15 points and seven rebounds, while teammate Je'La Watson contributed 10 points in the loss.

Morrisville State led 24-19 at the half before holding the slim 41-38 after three quarters.

The visitors opened with a 5-0 run early in the final quarter to build up an eight point lead, and maintained that advantage until under a minute go to when Bryn Athyn pulled within three.

The Lions had plenty of chances down the stretch to close the gap, but were unable to convert any shots, while Anderson was able to secure the win hitting 4-of-6 from the free throw line for the Mustangs.

Morrisville State wraps up the weekend action on the road at Penn St. Abington tomorrow in a 2 p.m. NEAC tip in Abington.
