Box Score MORRISVILLE, N.Y. - After earning the right to host the NEAC Championships by way of winning the NEAC regular season title, the Morrisville State College men's lacrosse team looked every bit like a number one seed this afternoon. The Mustangs totally dominated the fourth seeded Cazenovia Wildcats from start to finish with a lock down defensive effort and a relentless offensive attack to prevail 11-1. With the NEAC Semi-Final win, the men will advance to host the NEAC Championship Final on Saturday, May 2nd at 12pm versus Keuka College who needed overtime to defeat Hilbert 12-11.
For the first ten minutes of the game, Cazenovia and Morrisville State held each other scoreless until Louie Geswaldo's (Lafayette, N.Y.) goal at the 5:02 mark got things going for the Mustangs. Geswaldo's goal was followed up by two tallies by Brendan Shannon (Stanhope, N.J.) and another by Eliud Evans (Culver City, Ca.) over the next three and a half minutes to push the advantage to 4-0. Right before the end of the first quarter, Cazenovia's Ben Wilson scored to get Cazenovia on the board but it would be the only offense the Wildcats could muster for the rest of the game.
The Mustangs would tack on seven more goals over the next three periods for the ten goal margin of victory. John Sherlock (Tully, N.Y.), Dylan Lyons (Camillus, N.Y.), Andrew Donoghue (Rochester, N.Y.) scored two goals each with Geswaldo adding his second of the day to shoot down any hope of a Wildcat come back. Chris Fiore (Staten Island, N.Y.) had another stellar day between the pipes making eights saves for his tenth win of the season.
Morrisville State outshot the Wildcats 46-22, controlled 11 of 15 faceoffs and scooped up thirteen more groundballs.
