Box Score BRYN ATHYN, Pa. – The Morrisville State College men's lacrosse program claimed the 2015 North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) regular season title Saturday, posting the narrow 12-10 defeat of host Bryn Athyn.
The Mustangs finish the regular season with an undefeated 8-0 conference record, and improve to 9-5 overall as they await tournament announcements from the NEAC office Sunday.
Junior attackman John Sherlock (Tully, N.Y.) led Morrisville State with four goals adding one assist while teammate Louie Geswaldo (Lafayette, N.Y.) added a three goal, two assist effort.
Andrew Donoghue (Rochester, N.Y.) added three goals to the efforts, with fellow senior Brendan Shannon (Stanhope, N.J.) adding two scores to round out the Mustang leaders.
Chris Fiore (Staten Island, N.Y.) posted the win, registering seven saves in the victory.
Morrisville State led 4-0 after the opening quarter before the hosts battled back to trail by two at halftime, 6-4.
Bryn Athyn made it a 11-10 game in favor of the visitors with 5:53 to go before a Sherlock score for the Mustangs 41 seconds later regained a two goal advantage, and eventual win.
Morrisville State outshot the Lions 42-24 and won the ground ball battle 35-25, with seven being credited to face-off specialist Scott Augustine (Saranac Lake, N.Y.) who posted 10-of-11 wins at the center line.
Morrisville State will return to the field Wednesday for NEAC tournament semifinal action. Their opponent will be announced by the conference office Sunday.
