Box Score 2 CAZENOVIA, N.Y. – The Morrisville State College softball team concluded the 2014 season Saturday afternoon, dropping a pair of games to nearby rival Cazenovia College by final scores of 9-6 and 7-0.
The Mustangs finish the season campaign with a 3-26 overall record, 3-17 record within North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) action.
In the first of the day's double header action, the Mustangs led 6-3 before Cazenovia put together a two run fourth inning to make it a one run game, taking the win in the bottom of the sixth inning to capture the come from behind victory with a 9-6 final score.
Beth Marr (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) led the visitors from the plate, going 2-for-3 for Morrisville State with an RBI. Liz Miller (East Greenbush, N.Y.) added a 1-for-3 effort with two runs scored.
Erika Kenney (Duanesburg, N.Y.) threw the loss on the mound, allowing nine earned runs while posting one strike out.
In the second of the day's action, six Mustangs were able to reach base, but none reached home plate as Cazenovia posted the 7-0 win in five innings.
Courtney Purcell (Fabius, N.Y.) was perfect from the plate, singling twice, while Brianna Martin (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and Marr each added a single to the efforts from the plate.
Krista Baxter (Downsville, N.Y.) registered the loss, allowing seven earned runs while recording two strike outs.
