Second half gets away from Morrisville in loss to Brockport

BROCKPORT, N.Y. – Host SUNY Brockport field hockey scored five unanswered tallies in the second half of Tuesday afternoon's non-conference match with visiting SUNY Morrisville, posting the 6-2 victory in Brockport.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Visiting SUNY Morrisville field hockey held a 1-0 lead after the opening period of Tuesday afternoon's non-conference match up with host SUNY Brockport, but the second half got away from the Mustangs as the Golden Eagles scored five unanswered tallies en route to the 6-2 win in Brockport.
  • Morrisville took the 1-0 lead 10:39 into the opening quarter as Gracie Bagg (Nineveh, N.Y.) connected with Lilly Bagg (Nineveh, N.Y.) for the games first goal.
  • Nearly 10 minutes later, Brockport put their first on the board, evening the contest at one at the break,
  • The hosts took the lead 1:29 into the third quarter, 2-1, but a Morrisville score at the 42:47 mark evened the contest at two apiece.
  • Kylee Noyes (Castle Creek, N.Y.) put away the pass from Melissa Beaver (Granville, N.Y.) to pull the contest even.
  • Brockport, though, exploded for three unanswered tallies over five minutes, netting the first in the series seconds before the end of the third quarter, before adding two quick strikes early in the fourth to open the gap to a 5-2 advantage.
  • They closed out the contest with a final strike at the 58:36 mark, capturing the win.
  • Penelope Schalck and Elise Brady each led the Brockport scoring efforts with two goals and an assist.
  • Morrisville's Emmaly Noeller (Canastota, N.Y.) had five saves in 36 minutes in net, before Jillian Buczkowski (Rome, N.Y.) finished out the final 23:54.
  • Buczkowski recorded two saves in the loss in cage.
