Field hockey falls in SUNYAC opener, 4-0, to Oneonta

ONEONTA, N.Y. – Visiting SUNY Morrisville field hockey was held scoreless Saturday afternoon as they opened State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) action on the road at SUNY Oneonta, falling 4-0 to the Red Dragons.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Visiting SUNY Morrisville field hockey's Emmaly Noeller (Canastota, N.Y.) recorded a season high 17 saves Saturday afternoon, but the Mustangs were unable to stop host Oneonta as the Red Dragons posted the 4-0 SUNYAC win on their home field in Oneonta.
  • Both teams played to a scoreless opening quarter before Oneonta put the first tally on the board at the 16:18 mark, following with a second 1:25 before the halftime period for the 2-0 lead at the break.
  • Oneonta added a third score just before the end of the third, capping off all scoring in the fourth with a second goal off the stick of Gaby Ackley.
  • Kylee Noyes (Castle Creek, N.Y.) and Mallory Brown (Auburn, N.Y.) added a defensive save apiece to the efforts for the Mustangs, who collected a total 12 saves across the second half alone.

  • Morrisville will meet #6 ranked Salisbury Sunday afternoon for just the second overall meeting between the two programs. Opening whistle is scheduled for noon in Morrisville.
