Morrisville scoreless in five-inning bout with Keene State

CLERMONT, FLA. – Sophomore Lindsey Fish (Freeville, N.Y.) recorded the Mustangs lone hit in the night cap Thursday afternoon in day three of spring break action in Clermont, Florida, falling by a 9-0 final score in five innings Thursday to Keene State.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • The SUNY Morrisville softball team dropped a 9-0 decision in five innings to Keene State Thursday in the nightcap of day three of spring break action in Clermont, Florida, falling to 0-5 to date on the young season.
  • Morrisville's lone hit of the contest came from sophomore Lindsey Fish (Freeville, N.Y.) who put a shot up the middle in the bottom of the fourth in a late rally attempt.
  • Keene State took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first with back-to-back triple base hits.
  • The Owls extended their lead to 4-0 with a double to left, before doubling their lead in the third for the commanding 8-0 lead.
  • Morrisville kept Keene State off the board in the top of the fourth, before Fish started off the inning with her single up the middle, before advancing to send on a wild pitch.
  • Keene, though, kept the Mustangs off the board with a double play to close the inning.
  • The final score of the contest came in the top of the fifth with a sacrifice fly to center field, capturing the 9-0 win.
  • Fish went 1-for-2 from the plate for the Mustangs, while Gracie Battles (Fulton, N.Y.) registered a strikeout in 2.1 innings pitched.
  • Battles allowed eight earned runs before being replaced by Madeline Brennan (Salisbury Hills, N.Y.) for the final 2.2 innings.
  • Brennan collected a strikeout in 13 batters faced.
