Morrisville falls in season opener in Florida

CLERMONT, FL. – The SUNY Morrisville softball team opened the 2026 season slate Monday morning in Clermont, Florida at The Spring Games, falling in five innings to the College of Wooster during their spring break training trip.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Visiting SUNY Morrisville softball opened the 2026 season Monday morning, falling by a final 8-0 to The College of Wooster, in five innings in Clermont, Florida at THE Spring Games.
  • Morrisville's lone hit the contest came in the top of the first inning as Hannah Brennan (Trumansburg, N.Y.) sent a blast to right center to reach base.
  • Brennan stole second to move into scoring position, but Wooster closed out the inning with their second strike out, preventing the Mustang score.
  • In the bottom of the inning, Wooster got back-to-back blasts to score two, a triple to right to put the first run on the scoreboard, followed by a double to left for the 2-0 run lead.
  • Wooster added one run each in the second and third, before adding to their lead in the fourth as they reached home plate four times to earn the 8-0 win in five innings.
  • Brennan went 1-for-2 from the plate to lead Morrisville.
  • Kendall Darling (Lacona, N.Y.) threw the loss on the mound, earning the start and appearing in three innings where she allowed four earned runs, while striking out one.
  • Gracie Battles (Fulton, N.Y.) made her collegiate debut for Morrisville in the bottom of the fourth, allowing four runs.

  • Morrisville will face the University of Maine – Farmington this afternoon in the second of the day's action in Florida.
