Late Fourth Quarter Run Pushes Plattsburgh Past Morrisville

MORRISVILLE, N.Y – The Morrisville women's basketball trailed by eight points Saturday afternoon against Plattsburgh State and were unable to recover as Plattsburgh State ultimately won 64-54.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

• A slow start from Morrisville would lead to a 20-13 first quarter in favor of Plattsburgh.
• The Mustangs tightened up defensively in the second quarter only allowing 11 points and forcing five turnovers.
• After trailing 31-23 at halftime, Morrisville stormed back in the third quarter, even taking a 43-40 lead after a Anyssia Ingersoll (Mexico, N.Y.) three-pointer.
• The fourth quarter was very competitive until three minutes left when a three-pointer sparked a 16-2 run by the Cardinals to finish the game and claim the win.
• Ingersoll, who led the way for the Mustangs, dropped 29 points and snagged 14 rebounds, reaching the 1,000 career point mark.
• Abbie Platt (Oneonta, N.Y.) chipped in 15 points, 10 rebounds and had 3 steals.
• Plattsburgh's Rosie Sculo scored a team-high 15 points while Kathy Peterson-Ross and Imani Walcott each scored 13 points for the Cardinals.
