WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Visiting SUNY Oswego women's ice hockey held a 3-0 advantage early in the third before the host Morrisville Mustangs rallied with three straight tallies, but the comeback attempt fell short as the visitors netted the 5-3 win in SUNYAC play.
  • Morrisville held off a persistent Oswego offense in the first period until the 17:58 mark when a tip on the rebound snuck past Mustangs goaltender J'Anne Colbow (Weyburn, Sask.) for the 1-0 Laker lead.
  • Oswego added a second score 15:22 into the second, again getting the tally on a tipped puck before claiming a three goal lead two minutes into the third over the Mustangs.
  • Just over a minute later, Morrisville's Ella Oakes (Hogansburg, N.Y.) put Morrisville on the board with her chip on the crease, putting away the rebound off the initial shot from Meadow Clarke (Middlesackville, N.S.) and Scarlett Smith (Etobicoke, Ont.).
  • Morrisville made it a one-goal game at the 5:07 mark with a wrister from Karenhatironhtha Johnson (Hogansburg, N.Y.) who was fed the down ice pass from Madison Lawrence (McGraw, N.Y.) and Nora Egri (Budapest, Hungary).
  • A power play score at 15:18 by Tilly Couture (Bedford, N.S.) tied the contest at three, collecting the loose puck off the shot from Lindsey Durant (Bombay, N.Y.).
  • Oswego regained the lead two minutes later, though, with their fourth of the night, before sealing the win with an empty net score on the power play with just over a minute remaining in the game.
  • Colbow had a terrific effort in net for Morrisville, turning away 45 Laker attempts, several on the doorstop of the crease.
  • Mia Devivo collected 17 saves in net for Oswego in the win, while teammate Lauren Riccobelli posted the game winner.

WHAT'S NEXT:

  • Morrisville will host SUNY Canton tomorrow afternoon at the IcePlex with the puck dropping at 3 p.m. in Morrisville in SUNYAC action.
