Morrisville women close out home slate with loss to Buffalo State

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. –SUNY Morrisville women's hockey closed out their home schedule Saturday afternoon, falling in the thrilling match to Buffalo State in SUNYAC play in Morrisville.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Host SUNY Morrisville women's ice hockey closed out the home slate Saturday afternoon, falling 4-3 in SUNYAC play to visiting Buffalo State.
  • Morrisville put the games first tally on the board just 3:19 in with Amelia Lomas (Millarville, Alta.) getting the tip on the snipe by Madison Lawrence (McGraw, N.Y.) from the blue line.
  • The Bengals, though, scored twice in the final two minutes of the contest to claim a 2-1 lead after one period of play.
  • Morrisville tied the contest at two nearly six minutes in with a power play score from Avery Holland (Plattsburgh, N.Y.) who got the tip on the crease from Tilly Couture's (Bedford, N.Y.) initial shot.
  • Buffalo State responded with two straight in the next two minutes time, claiming the two-goal advantage after the second.
  • Alexa Spiers (Smithtown, N.Y.) made it a one goal game early in the third, putting away the feed from Couture and Lomas and the Mustangs kept up their offensive attack at net across the remainder of the contest, but were unable to sneak the game tying score in as the Bengals earned the win.
  • Sydney Canham (Fairport, N.Y.) recorded the loss between the pipes, turning aside 20 across 59 minutes of action.

  • Morrisville heads North to Potsdam and Plattsburgh for the final weekend of the season Friday and Saturday.
