Morrisville Earns Tough Road Win at Oswego

OSWEGO, N.Y. – In a back-and-forth battle that came down to the final seconds, Morrisville would hold off a determined Oswego State comeback Friday night to secure a narrow 3-point victory on the road.

  • Team Scores: Morrisville 70, Oswego 67 (halftime: Oswego 32-29)
  • Location: Max Ziel Gym, Oswego, N.Y.
  • Records: Morrisville 2-21, 1-15 SUNYAC, Oswego 9-13, 7-8 SUNYAC
 
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • After a back and forth first quarter, Morrisville was able to close the quarter with back-to-back three pointers, taking a 20-15 lead.
  • Oswego led a great defensive effort in the second quarter, going on a 10-0 run before Morrisville finished the quarter with a fast break layup.
  • The third period was no different as the game was tied 47-47 with 48 seconds remaining; before Celeste Baldwin (Bainbridge, N.Y.) hit a three-pointer to give the Mustangs the lead entering the fourth quarter.
  • The game remained tight throughout with multiple ties and lead changes.
  • With the game tied at 67 apiece, Anyssia Ingersoll (Mexico, N.Y.) would hit a go-ahead floater with 18 seconds remaining.
  • Ultimately a free throw from Ingersoll, and a block from Abbie Platt (Oneonta, N.Y.) would seal the game for the Mustangs 70-67.
  • Ingersoll led the contest with 30 points while grabbing eight rebounds and dishing out five assists.
  • Platt contributed 18 points, 10 rebounds and five steals.
  • Oswego was led by Giavanna White-Principio who scored 21 points and grabbed 17 rebounds, while Zhane Holmes had 15 points, six assists and three steals.

  • Morrisville plays their final road game tomorrow as they face SUNY Canton in SUNYAC action.
