Four unanswered tallies in third lead to 4-1 loss to Cortland

CORTLAND, N.Y. – Host SUNY Cortland men's hockey scored four unanswered goals in the final period of Saturday's SUNYAC action against visiting SUNY Morrisville, netting the 4-1 victory over the Mustangs.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Visiting SUNY Morrisville men's hockey held a 1-0 lead through nearly 24 minutes of action Saturday afternoon on the road at SUNY Cortland, but the host Red Dragons poured in four unanswered tallies in the third to earn the come-from-behind victory in SUNYAC play.
  • Morrisville skated to an even opening period of play until the 18:14 mark when defenseman Connor Santay (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) notched an unassisted tally to put the Mustangs on the board and give the visitors the 1-0 advantage.
  • The Mustangs maintained the lead through the second period before Cortland collected their first of the afternoon at the 2:08 mark to tie the contest at one, adding a second 21 seconds later to claim the 2-1 advantage.
  • Cortland put a third in the back of the net at the four-minute mark, opening the lead to two goals, before finalizing all scoring at 12:57 with their fourth unanswered tally of the period.
  • The Red Dragons pounded 64 shots at net, 28 in the third period, as Morrisville netminder Chad Lowe (Auburn, N.Y.) turned away 60 across the contest in the efforts between the pipes in the loss.

  • Morrisville will be on the road Friday and Saturday, traveling west to meet Buffalo State and Fredonia on their home ice in SUNYAC weekend play.
  • Puck drops at 7 p.m. Friday at Buffalo State.
