Furman nets first collegiate score at Buffalo State

BUFFALO, N.Y. – SUNY Morrisville men's hockey freshman forward Clark Furman (Regina, Sask.) posted his first collegiate tally Friday night on the road at Buffalo State, with the Mustangs dropping the SUNYAC contest by a 6-2 final score in Buffalo.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Visiting SUNY Morrisville men's ice hockey dropped a 6-2 SUNYAC decision to host Buffalo State College Friday night in Buffalo, falling to 1-7-2 in league standings.
  • Morrisville fell behind 2-0 after the opening period before the Bengals added a third tally just a minute into the second for the three-goal lead.
  • The Mustangs saw freshman Clark Furman (Regina, Sask.) net his first collegiate goal three minutes later off the feed from Connor Santay (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) and Fisher Moore (Cadillac, Mich.) cutting the lead to two scores after two periods of action.
  • Buffalo State regained the three-goal lead 2:43 into the third, but a wrister from Tyler Zembrzycki (East Islip, N.Y.) passed the Bengal netminder again brough the Mustangs within two with 10 minutes to go in the final period.
  • Will Jones (Corbeil, Ont.) was credited with the assist.
  • Buffalo State, though, regained the three-goal lead at the 12-minute mark, before putting a cap on all scoring at 18:07 with their sixth of the night.
  • Chad Lowe (Auburn, N.Y.) recorded 43 stops in the efforts between the pipes for the Mustangs, including a 19-save opening period.
  • Marcus Cumberworth had 27 in the win for the Bengals with teammate Vadim Kiriakov netting two to lead the offensive efforts.
