Jones, Ingersoll net 15 in efforts against New Paltz

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – Visting SUNY New Paltz outgained the host SUNY Morrisville Mustangs 22-10 in the third quarter en route to a 58-41 SUNYAC win Saturday afternoon in Morrisville.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Host SUNY Morrisville women's basketball dropped a 58-41 decision to visiting SUNY New Paltz Saturday afternoon, despite limiting the visiting Hawks to just six points in the final quarter.
  • New Paltz was limited to just one bucket in the final frame, hitting 7.6% from the floor in the quarter, while gaining four of their six total points from the free throw line.
  • Morrisville was able to trim a bit off the 23-point deficit in the fourth, in part with the play from Jessalyn Jones (Moravia, N.Y.) off the bench with her back-to-back three-pointers with three minutes to go.
  • Despite the Mustang efforts across the final 10, the deficit was too much to overcome for the hosts.
  • Jones, alongside Anyssia Ingersoll (Mexico, N.Y.) led Morrisville with 15 points apiece, combining for 12 rebounds and three assists.
  • Celeste Baldwin (Bainbridge, N.Y.) added six points to go along with a team high 11 rebounds.
  • Brianna Fitzgerald led all scorers with 16 for the Hawks, adding 12 rebounds for the double-double.
  • Karly Wittenbauer also collected the double-double performance with 14 points and 10 boards.
