Tyson named SUNY Scholar-Athlete of the Year

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – Twenty-eight student-athletes were honored at the conclusion of the spring season with the SUNY Scholar Athlete of the Year Award, combining academic achievement with success in the arena of athletic competition during the 2025 spring season. Among those honored was senior western equestrian rider, Jenna Tyson (Pottstown, Pa.).
 
Tyson was a Regional Champion for Morrisville's western team in open reining, also finishing as the Region's high point rider for the season.
 
She finished fourth overall at the IHSA western semifinals in the high point rider competition to advance to the national championships, placing seventh overall in the Back On Track High Point Rider competition.
 
She finished her final semester with a perfect 4.0 GPA, earning President's List accolades for the college. Tyson was also named to the SUNYAC Commissioner's List for academic excellence this academic year.
 
SUNY Morrisville's curricula are enriched with applied learning and pave the way for opportunity at the Morrisville and Norwich campuses. An action-oriented, interactive learning lab, the college is a national leader in technology and has been lauded for its exemplary, innovative and effective community service programs.
