Morrisville resumes outing against Oswego, falls 5-2

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The SUNY Morrisville softball team resumed action Thursday afternoon from the halted contest against Oswego State earlier in the week, falling 5-2 in SUNYAC play in Morrisville.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • The SUNY Morrisville softball team resumed action Thursday afternoon from the halted contest against Oswego State earlier in the week, falling 5-2 in league action as the Lakers plated three in the top of the third to take the lead and eventual win.
  • The contest, originally scheduled for Tuesday was halted in the bottom of the second inning due to thunderstorms that rolled through the Morrisville area.
  • Morrisville led 1-0 after the first, before Oswego played three in the top of the third to claim the 3-1 advantage.
  • The Lakers added two more to their total in the top of the sixth, before Morrisville countered with a score of their own in an attempt to rally in the bottom of the inning.
  • Morrisville forced a quick three outs in the top of the seventh, forcing Oswego's defense to make plays in the bottom of the inning to collect the win.
  • Hannah Brennan (Trumansburg, N.Y.) led the Mustangs from the plate in her 3-for-3 effort, collecting an RBI, while teammates Sara Brefka (East Syracuse, N.Y.) and Emery Sawitzki (Amsterdam, N.Y.) each went 1-for-2.
  • Kendall Darling (Lacona, N.Y.) threw the loss on the mound, appearing for 4.1 innings and striking out two, before Piper Kaylor (Montgomery, N.Y.) saw 2.2 innings of action, recording the two strikeouts.

  • Morrisville will return to the field tomorrow, hosting Plattsburgh in double-header action that is scheduled to begin at 12 p.m. in Morrisville.
