Morrisville men fall short in team effort at Potsdam

POTSDAM, N.Y. – The SUNY Morrisville men's lacrosse team had five net goals Wednesday afternoon on the road at host SUNY Potsdam, falling short despite the collective team effort in the 14-7 SUNYAC decision to the Bears.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • The SUNY Morrisville men's lacrosse team recorded a 14-7 loss Wednesday afternoon in SUNYAC competition to host SUNY Potsdam, despite a team wide effort that saw five net scores across the contest.
  • The Mustangs fell behind 4-0 after the opening quarter, responding in the second with three tallies to trail 7-3 at the break to the hosts.
  • With both teams scoring twice in the third quarter, Potsdam carried the 9-5 advantage into the final frame, extending their lead to seven before the final whistle to collect the win.
  • Jason Tedeschi (Manlius, N.Y.) led Morrisville with three goals, adding two assists, while four additional teammates each tallied a score to contribute to the efforts.
  • Kyan Dohn (East Brunswick, N.J.), Curtis Robitaille (Endwell, N.Y.), Daniel Squires (Aquebogue, N.Y.) and Dean Mohammed (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) each netted one in the loss.
  • Squires and Andrew Idzik (North Tonawanda, N.Y.) each collected seven ground ball pickups across the afternoon with Squires adding three caused turnovers.
  • Blake Dunton (Middlesex, N.Y.) turned away 19 Bear shots in the loss, adding six ground balls and a caused turnover to the defensive efforts.
  • Eleven of his saves came in the second half of the contest.
  • Morrisville placed 27 shots on goal across the contest, forcing Potsdam's goalkeeper Saka Thompson to make 20 saves to secure the win.

  • Morrisville is on the road for their second straight SUNYAC contest Saturday, heading to Oswego for a 2 p.m. faceoff in league action.
