ONEONTA, N.Y. – The SUNY Morrisville softball team wrapped up the 2025 road schedule Saturday afternoon at SUNY Oneonta, falling in double-header action by game scores of 10-1 (5 innings) and 4-3 in Oneonta.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

• The SUNY Morrisville softball team wrapped up the 2025 road schedule Saturday afternoon at host SUNY Oneonta, falling in double-header SUNYAC action by final scores of 10-1 (5 innings) and 4-3.
• Morrisville fell behind early in the first of the day's action, as Oneonta plated two in the bottom of the first, before adding to their lead with eight runs across the third, fourth and fifth innings.
• Morrisville's lone score came in the top of the fifth, as Isabella Gaskins (Binghamton, N.Y.) doubled down the right field line, before an error on the short stop found Sara Brefka (East Syracuse, N.Y.) reaching first and advancing Gaskins to third.
• Callie Lafontaine (Chaumont, N.Y.) singled to left center, scoring Gaskins, as she collected the RBI.
• Lafontaine went 1-for-2 from the plate alongside Gaskins, while Lindsey Fish (Freeville, N.Y.) went 1-for-3 in the outing, recording a double.
• Piper Kaylor (Montgomery, N.Y.) registered two strikeouts in the loss on the mound, facing 28 batters across 4.1 innings for the Mustangs.
• Oneonta took a 1-0 lead over the Mustangs in the bottom of the first inning in the nightcap, before Morrisville plated two in the top of the second and extended their lead to two runs in the top of the fourth.
• The Red Dragons, though, plated three in the bottom of the seventh to claim the come from behind win and sweep the double.
• Kaylie Kendrick (Johnson City, N.Y.) reached on a single to center field to kick off the Mustangs rally in the second, before Fish stepped to the plate to rifle a shot to center field.
• Kendrick scored on an error to put the Mustangs on the board, before Gaskins registered a sacrifice fly to center field, plating Fish for the second Morrisville run.
• The Mustangs extended their lead to 3-1 in the top of the fourth, as Kendrick scored on a wild pitch.
• Morrisville maintained the lead until the bottom of the seventh, placing their lead off hitter in scoring position on a ground out, before a Mustang error resulted in an Oneonta run to make it a 3-2 ball game.
• On the ensuing at bat, a single shot to right field sent one across home, tying the game at three, and later in the inning Oneonta registered a walk off single to short to plate the winning run.
• Kendrick led Morrisville with two runs, going 1-for-1 from the plate, while Fish was 1-for-2 with an RBI.
• Brefka and Abbie Platt (Oneonta, N.Y.) also recorded hits in the contest, going 1-for-3 each.
• Kendall Darling (Lacona, N.Y.) faced 31 batters across 6.2 innings on the mound, posting two strikeouts.
