Morrisville men fall short in comeback attempt with New Paltz

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The SUNY Morrisville men's basketball team fell 68-64 in SUNYAC play Friday night to visiting SUNY New Paltz, falling short of a second half comeback attempt on their home court in Morrisville.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Host SUNY Morrisville men's basketball rallied for a second half comeback attempt but fell short as New Paltz escaped with a 68-64 win in the back-and-forth contest.
  • New Paltz led 37-24 at the break before Morrisville opened with a 13-3 run early on in the second to cut the deficit to three just five minutes in.
  • After tying the contest at 42, New Paltz was able to open the lead to as many as eight late in the contest, but back-to-back layups by Kareem Sanders (Schenectady, N.Y.) closed the gap to four with 15 ticks to go.
  • New Paltz converted three from the free throw line to regain the multi-possession lead, but Morrisville would muster one final shot, a three from CJ McCullum (Bronx, N.Y.) at the buzzer to signal the end the comeback attempt.
  • Jacob Works (Liverpool, N.Y.) led the Mustangs with 13 points, adding three rebounds, while Sanders added 12 to go along with eight rebounds and three steals.
  • Jalyn Moorehead (Rochester, N.Y.) netted 12 as well off the bench, while McCullum chipped in nine, adding five steals and five assists.
