RUTLAND, VT. – The SUNY Morrisville women's hockey team was on the road for the final time in 2025 Saturday as they head into the winter break following a 3-2 loss to host Vermont State – Castleton in Rutland.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

• The SUNY Morrisville women's hockey team hit the road for the final time in 2025 Saturday, dropping a 3-2 decision to host Vermont State – Castleton in Rutland.
• The Mustangs head into the semester break and will return to the ice later this month to resume practice in preparation for next semester's scheduled slate.
• An early strike by Castleton gave the hosts the 1-0 advantage just two minutes in, but for a second time in as many days, Alexa Spiers (Smithtown, N.Y.) posted a tally for the Mustangs, evening the game at one at 16:16.
• Nora Egri (Budapest, Hungary) and Meadow Clarke (Middlesackville, N.S.) were credited with the assists.
• Castleton notched a power play score late in the second and added a short handed goal minutes into the third to take a 3-1 lead after nearly 44 minutes of play.
• Madison Lawrence (Marathon, N.Y.) brought the Mustangs within one, burying the one-timer from Clarke on the blue line at 6:37, but Morrisville was unable to convert their attempts to even the contest down the stretch as the Spartans picked up the win.
• Sydney Canham (Rochester, N.Y.) recorded the loss, despite a 46 save effort in net.

• Morrisville will host Amherst College on January 2^nd as they return for the final half of the scheduled season in 2026.
