UTICA, N.Y. – The SUNY Morrisville men's hockey team fell short in the consolation round of the Utica University Thanksgiving tournament Saturday, dropping a 2-1 decision to UMass-Boston at the Adirondack Bank Center in Utica.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

• Visiting SUNY Morrisville men's hockey scored a late third period goal Saturday afternoon to cut into the UMass-Boston lead, but it wasn't enough as the Beacons collected the 2-1 win in the consolation round of the Utica University Thanksgiving Tournament held at the Adirondack Bank Center in Utica.
• UMass-Boston took the 1-0 lead in the opening period at the 13:35 mark before increasing their lead to 2-0 late in the second to carry the two goal advantage into the final period of action.
• Morrisville was able to put one up on the board at 14:00 as defenseman Logan James (Belleville, Ont.) buried the snipe off the feed from Tyler Zembrzycki (East Islip, N.Y.) and Tanner Dietz (Mitchell, Ont.) to cut the deficit to one.
• Morrisville made a push in the offensive zone throughout the remainder of the game, but UMass-Boston withstood the Mustang blitz and kept the visitors from netting the equalizer.
• Grant Linville (Edmonds, Okla.) recorded 36 saves in the loss in net for the Mustangs, a combined 26 in the first two periods of the afternoon.
• Alex Koenig posted the win for UMass-Boston, collecting 25 saves.
