Five net double digits in win over Hartwick

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The SUNY Morrisville women's basketball team picked up their first win of the 2025-26 season Tuesday evening, topping visiting Hartwick by a 79-72 final score in Morrisville as five Mustangs posted double-digits in the win.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Host SUNY Morrisville women's basketball outgained visiting Hartwick College Tuesday evening to capture a 78-72 non-conference win over the Hawks on their home court in Morrisville.
  • The Mustangs held a slim 33-29 margin over the visitors at the break, before Hartwick claimed the one-point edge heading into the final quarter, 50-49.
  • Morrisville, though, responded in the fourth with a 29-point frame that included a 16-for-24 effort from the free throw line that sealed the win down the stretch.
  • Five Mustangs netted double figures across the night, including Anyssia Ingersoll (Mexico, N.Y.) who led the squad with 19 points.
  • Ingersoll added an 8-for-8 effort from the free throw line, while collecting four rebounds and assisting another six.
  • Sophia Babcock (Oswego, N.Y.) added 15 points for the hosts, hitting 3-of-6 from beyond the arc, while teammate Abbie Platt (Oneonta, N.Y.) chipped in 13 to go along with four rebounds and two assists.
  • Mia Kaltenbach (Cooperstown, N.Y.) and Jessalyn Jones (Moravia, N.Y.) rounded out the leaderboard with 10 points apiece, Kaltenbach adding four rebounds.
  • Macy Durkin led Hartwick with 17 points and 21 rebounds, while teammates Emma Cohen and Ryleigh Endres each netted 13.
  • Hartwick led 57-55 with 6:44 remaining in the fourth quarter before a layup from Hayley Dawson (Papamoa, New Zealand) pulled the hosts even and sparked a five point swing in the contest.
  • A three by Jones from the top of the key gave Morrisville the four-point edge with 4:15 to go, and another from Dawson under a minute later maintained the multi-possession distance for the Mustangs.
  • Hartwick closed the game to three with 38 seconds showing on the clock, but the Mustangs were able to close out the win from the free throw line, converting 7-of-10 attempts.

  • Morrisville returns to action next Friday, hosting SUNY Canton as they open the 2025-26 SUNYAC slate on the Mustangs home court in Morrisville.
