Three net double figures in efforts against Canton

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – Three collected double figures in the SUNY Morrisville women's basketball efforts against undefeated SUNY Canton Friday night in the SUNYAC opener, but the Mustangs fell short as the Roos picked up the 90-53 win in Morrisville.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Host SUNY Morrisville women's basketball dropped their SUNYAC opener Friday evening to visiting SUNY Canton, 90-53, despite having three net double figures to lead the efforts in the loss.
  • Morrisville trailed Canton 17-13 after the opening quarter, but the Roos put together a 21-point frame to claim the 38-25 lead at the break.
  • The Mustangs were able to cut the deficit to six midway through the third quarter, but a 20-6 run by the Roos to close out the quarter saw the Mustangs trail 63-44 after three.
  • Canton used a 43.48% shooting effort in the final frame to put the game away, collecting the league win.
  • Anyssia Ingersoll (Mexico, N.Y.) led the Mustangs with an 18 point effort, adding eight rebounds and four assists, while teammate Sophia Babcock (Oswego, N.Y.) posted 11 points.
  • Celeste Baldwin (Bainbridge, N.Y.) added 10 to go along with 14 rebounds for the double-double, also collecting seven assists.
  • Canton had three post double figures as well, including Kate Grainger, who had 16 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Roos.
  • Sierra Pabo added 14 to go along with eight rebounds and eight assists, while Kat McRobbie-Taru posted 12 points and four assists.

  • Morrisville will host Oswego State at 2 p.m. Saturday to wrap up the SUNYAC opening weekend.
