MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The SUNY Morrisville men's basketball team headed into the short Thanksgiving break Tuesday night with their first win of the season, topping visiting Houghton University by a 80-72 final score in Morrisville.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

• Host SUNY Morrisville men's basketball netted their first win of the young season Tuesday evening, toppling visiting Houghton University by an 80-72 final score on the Mustangs home court in Morrisville.
• Morrisville led 40-28 at the break before the Highlanders battled back to make it a one-point game with 6:10 remaining in the second, but the Mustangs were able to build up as many as a 10-point lead to secure the non-league win.
• Avion Grainger (Syracuse, N.Y.) came off the bench to lead Morrisville in scoring, registering a 20-point night as he hit 10-of-12 from the free throw line.
• Grainger also recorded two blocked shots to add to his totals.
• Three additional teammates posted double figures come final whistle, including Jacob Works (Liverpool, N.Y.) who had 14 to go along with two assists and four rebounds.
• Jalyn Moorehead (Rochester, N.Y.) added 10, while assisting two, while teammate Tony Borges (Auburn, N.Y.) chipped in 10, also collecting six rebounds and three steals for the Mustangs.
• Morrisville was able to capitalize off Houghton miscues, scoring 21 points off turnovers, 20 that came on the fast break.

• Morrisville will head to Hartwick next Tuesday, before opening SUNYAC play on December 5 against Canton on the Mustangs home court.
