CANTON, N.Y. – SUNY Morrisville women's ice hockey opened the SUNYAC schedule Friday afternoon on the road at SUNY Canton, falling in a 2-1 decision as the Roos posted the go ahead score in the third to capture the win.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

• Visiting SUNY Morrisville women's hockey opened the league schedule on the road Friday afternoon at SUNY Canton, dropping the 2-1 decision as the Roos posted the go ahead tally five minutes into the third period.
• Morrisville led 1-0 after the first, netting the contests first score 6:51 in.
• Madison Lawrence (McGraw, N.Y.) rifled a shot from the blue towards the Roo net, Nora Egri (Budapest, Hun.) followed with a second shot before Avery Holland (Plattsburgh, N.Y.) slapped in the puck for the tally.
• Sydney Canham (Rochester, N.Y.) was able to keep the Roos off the board until the 15:03 mark of the second period when they cleaned up the loose puck on the crease for the equalizing score.
• Canton took the 2-1 lead 5:06 into the third on a deflection in front off the initial shot sent in from the right side of the zone.
• Morrisville pulled Canham for the extra skater with 1:05 remaining and was able to put a shot on net, but the game tying attempt was stopped short by Roo netminder Alyssa Townsley.
• Canham made 31 stops in the loss in net, including a 10 save effort in the third period.
• Townsley recorded the win with nine saves.
