Losel's hat trick leads Morrisville to thrilling win

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – SUNY Morrisville freshman forward Mason Losel (Lake View, N.Y.) completed the hat-trick performance in thrilling fashion to lead the host Mustangs to a 4-3 overtime win over Lebanon Valley College in Morrisville.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Host SUNY Morrisville men's hockey picked up a thrilling 4-3 overtime win Saturday afternoon over visiting Lebanon Valley College with freshman Mason Losel (Lake View, N.Y.) netting the hat trick performance.
  • Lebanon Valley took the early one goal lead, netting the contest's first score just 17 ticks in as they intercepted a pass in front of the Mustangs net.
  • Just 1:09 into the second, a score from Caden Sutter (Chippewa Falls, Wisc.) evened the score at one, while Tanner Dietz (Mitchell, Ont.) and Zach Nicholls (Chestermere, Alta.) picked up the assists.
  • Nearly five minutes later, Losel collected a power play score for the Mustangs to put the hosts ahead by one, but that was short lived as an unassisted score from the Dutchmen evened the game at two.
  • Ethan Henry (Buffalo, N.Y.) and Dietz picked up the assists on Losel's tally.
  • Lebanon Valley collected a second score of the period on the power play at the 12:02 mark to carry the 3-2 lead into the final frame.
  • At the 15:33 mark into the third, Losel was able to put the puck into the back of the net for a second time on the night, tying the contest at three and forcing an overtime period.
  • Brady Rossbach (New Berlin, Wisc.) was credited with the assist on the score.
  • In the extra frame, Morrisville wasted no time in putting together an offensive attack, as Losel collected the puck off the boards and carried it down ice for the wrister over the glove of the Lebanon Valley netminder for the thrilling win just 25 seconds into the overtime period.
  • Grant Linville (Edmond, Okla.) posted the win in net, turning away a game total 42 shots, 19 in the third period.

  • Morrisville will hit the road for their first of the 2025 season Friday, traveling to St. John Fisher University for a first ever meeting between the two programs.
