Morrisville women resume schedule with 2-1 win over Potsdam

POTSDAM, N.Y. – The SUNY Morrisville women's ice hockey team resumed the season action Tuesday night on the road in Potsdam, posting the 2-1 SUNYAC win over the Bears in the north country.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Visiting SUNY Morrisville women's hockey resumed the season schedule following the holiday break Tuesday night on the road at SUNY Potsdam, claiming the 2-1 SUNYAC win in Potsdam.
  • Morrisville was first to open all scoring, posting the 1-0 lead at the 8:03 mark of the opening period as Allicen Bouchard (Rockford, Ill.) dove to tap in the dish from Allie Davidson (Niagara Falls, Ont.) across the mouth of the goal midway through the period.
  • Maintaining the one-goal lead, Morrisville was able to add to their total late in the second period as newcomer Bailey McMaster (Regina, Sask.) posted her first collegiate goal with the Mustangs on the break away at the 19:12.6 mark.
  • Logyn Nyitrai (Acton, Ont.) was credited with the assist.
  • Late in the third, Potsdam pilled goaltender Magalie Parent for the extra skater and capitalized as they cut the Mustang lead to one with 1:34 to go.
  • Morrisville was whistled for a hooking penalty and again Potsdam had the empty net for the 6-on-4 on ice advantage, but Mustang netminder J'Anne Colbow (Weyburn, Sask.) posted five straight saves to keep the Bears from netting a game-tying score.
  • Colbow finished with 29 saves in the win for the Mustangs between the pipes.
  • Parent had 24 in 57:40 of play in the loss.

  • Morrisville will return to the ice Friday, hosting Western New England in the Mustang Cup Tournament hosted in Morrisville.
